This includes everything from access rights for children to divorce or the drafting of a marriage contract before you get married or even if you are already married. The initial question is often which court or authority is responsible for international marriages. Where do you have to – or can – get a divorce if two Germans live in the USA, have married according to German law and now want to get a divorce. And if this were done in the USA, how would the German authorities find out? Or you are the father of a child who lives with his mother in Germany. Do you have access rights? Or even a duty of care? Does the child’s mother perhaps even have to put her son or daughter on a plane regularly to see you in Florida? A German has proposed to you on his knees. Would you like to get married in Germany but would you like to sign a marriage contract first? He even has a draft? I would be happy to check this for you.
